Skegness
Sitting pretty on the northern edge of The Wash, Skegness had left its mark in the tourist map as a seaside resort towards the end of 19th century, when railways connected this city to the outside world. Miles of sun baked bone white sandy coast is a favourite haunt for the annual holiday makers of the Midland. The first holiday camp of this town came up in 1936 in a beet yard, which was the brain child of the hospitality industry tycoon Bill Butlin. Though its pier was damaged in the storms around three decades back, it still remains one of the best resorts in the UK, which takes credit to an array of water sports facilities and first class cuisines.
