The town of Dunfermline is the historic capital of and is the bustling town located in Fife, Scotland. It is situated on an elevated ground just three miles away from the Firth of Forth coast towards northwest of Edinburgh. He offered his home town a free library and public baths and in 1903 the area of the Pittencrieff Park and the Glen well linked with history and gracious natural charm was dedicated to the town and it is fetching an income of £25,000 a year. The park also provides base for many exhibition, art and cultural events.

Charles I, the King of England, Scotland, France and Ireland; singers Barbara Dickson and Ian Anderson; poets Robert Gilfillan, Sir Joseph Noel Paton and Robert Henryson are among other prominent personalities who hails from this enchanting town. Dunfermline is also famous for its sports ventures it is home to professional football team, Rugby clubs and athletics teams.

The Dumfries City Half Marathon gains international significance as one among several summer long distance athletic events has its strong base in the Dunfermline town.
