Brighton is located on the south coast of . It is one of the largest cities located by the sea in . Brighton and its neighbouring town of Hove together form the city of Brighton and Hove. It emerged as a prominent health resort during the 18th century and attracted day-trippers soon after the arrival of the railway in 1841. Today Brighton forms part of the metropolitan area stretching along the coastal region.

Another major event named the Brighton Festival Fringe along with the main Brighton Festival is considered as the second largest Fringe festival in the world.
The town boasts many museums to its credit that includes Brighton Museum and Art Gallery, the Brighton Fishing Museum, the Brighton Toy and Model Museum and the Booth Museum of Natural History.
