Have a riot in Reading

Although a lot smaller and quieter than its close neighbour, London, Reading remains a popular destination for stag and hen parties and comes with all the basics for a weekend of mayhem.

The city boasts a wide range of drinking holes for its size, from cosmopolitan bars to traditional pubs, as well as some pretty decent clubs to keep you dancing into the small hours.

Although a lot of Reading clubs rely on cheese as their principal musical diet, there are other options out there, including several funk and indie nights to cater for the large student population.

If you're after some action-packed adventures during your break, there are opportunities nearby for activities including paintball, clay pigeon shooting, quad biking, archery, go-karting and golf.

Reading is also a top destination for those after a little retail therapy and has been named one of the top ten shopping destinations in the UK. There are some great bargains to be found at the Oracle Shopping and Leisure Complex, while some of the nation's top department stores have outlets here.

The Oracle is also packed with some great bars, cafes and restaurants, many of which have pavement cafe sections along the waterfront for al fresco dining.
